Frequently Asked Questions

Passport applications can be downloaded from www.travel.state.gov. The passport form must be presented and signed in person at an authorized passport acceptance facility. You will need to bring your actual birth certificate and two passport photos.
Needing a VISA depends on what country you will be traveling to. The mission’s coordinator will take care of getting VISAs if it is necessary.
To go on a short-term trip with DSM First, you do not have to attend the church.
DSM First trips are planned for individuals, age 13 and older with a guardian. Participants age 18 and over can travel alone. Each trip requires a different set of criteria. It is important that we place participants on trips where they will best fit the needs of that trip and our Global Partners. If you have health concerns or issues, please discuss those on your application.
The cost of the trip will vary depending on the area you choose. The cost of all trips will include airfare, housing accommodations, ground transportation, meals during the trip, and insurance.
Each individual can pay for his/her trip on their own, but is encouraged to send
out support letters to family and friends.
Family and friends can donate to your trip online by visiting our online giving page and specifying they are donating to your name and missions trip.
Yes. Any donations made toward your trip are tax deductible.
The size of each trip is dependent upon the location. 10-20 is the average trip size.
The type of work you will be doing will depend on the trip you are going on. Our trips can include construction, medical, orphanages and evangelist.
If there is a medical emergency your insurance will cover it.
Yes. Insurance will be purchased for every team member through Assemblies of God World Missions and the cost will be included in your trip.
We strongly suggest packing one carry-on bag plus one small tote bag/backpack to avoid any delays at the airports. Please make sure to follow the zip lock bag rules for liquids.
You can consult with your doctor or go to the website for the Center for Disease Control and Prevention www.cdc.gov to get advice on what (if any) vaccinations are needed while abroad. Note that our itinerary does not include any overnight stays in a rural area. The group is not out before dawn or after dusk. FFP does not require any immunizations.

If you have glasses or contact lenses, bring along an extra pair. If you have
prescription medication, make sure you bring enough to last during your time
abroad. Make sure to carry the correctly labeled containers so it won’t be mistaken for illegal drugs.

The personal money that you bring overseas with you will depend on how much you feel you would like to spend. A recommended amount is usually around $100-$200 US dollars depending on the exchange rate of the country. Personal spending money will not be included in the cost of your trip.
Absolutely not! We provide purified water for all drinking and cooking needs.
Please bring an empty water bottle along to fill from our large containers.
Every person is required to get the necessary immunization/ inoculation for your
destination. Please visit the CDC website (www.cdc.gov/travel) for the most
recent list.

Check with your primary care physician and your personal health insurance company to determine cost and coverage. DSM First does not give recommendations for what immunizations you should have.

Missions Project 2016

Costa Rica Project

In 2016, our church family raised over $50,000 for the acquisition and renovation of a property for the Chicos (boys) house in Linda Vista, Costa Rica. The dream is for these young boys to mature in their faith and become champions of change for their community. In January we took a team of 18 people to Costa Rica for this special missions project. Ages ranging from 14-81 all invested 10 days in a life changing ministry. They worked approximately 600 man hours doing various general construction projects. They ministered to more than 50 children Chicos and Chicas (boys and girls) over a 4 day period. We were His hands, His feet, and His voice.
